I've spent my career breaking down barriers, connecting people to health care, education, recreation and opportunities they didn't know existed.
I promoted the story of the Indiana Dunes when it mattered most, then watched that story help turn a century-old dream into Indiana's first national park. I've seen the difference the right message makes when it reaches the right people at the right time.
Hobart Township deserves a trustee committed to making sure every resident knows what support is available, can access it, and is always treated with respect and dignity. That is the office I'll lead.
Why I'm running
Township government should be transparent, capable and rooted in dignity. People deserve experienced, collaborative leaders who step up when life gets tough. They deserve a trustee's office that is organized, responsive and focused on people.
I'm running to modernize the township, restore responsible oversight and make sure township services truly work for the people who rely on them.
Experience that delivers
My journey has taken me from representing the state of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico Alliance to leading public relations for the Emmy-nominated documentary "Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability." This film helped inspire congressional support for redesignating the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore as a national park, bringing greater visibility, tourism and economic opportunity to our region.
I've led communications for community-based programs that help underserved families access primary and mental health care. In a regional leadership role at Ivy Tech Community College, I oversaw enrollment marketing and communications across multiple campuses, from East Chicago to Warsaw. That work reinforced how access to affordable education and workforce training can change the trajectory of entire communities. And at Head Start, I saw firsthand how essential high-quality, affordable child care is for working parents.
I've built teams, launched game-changing strategies and managed multimillion-dollar budgets. I know how to design systems that truly serve people, and how to make sure they deliver.
This is personal
I know what it feels like when life throws you off course.
My family moved in and out of poverty, and I watched my grandparents work to break that cycle. When my parents were close to losing our home, I gave them my college scholarship to help keep it. For a time between college and graduate school, I couch-surfed because I couldn't afford rent. Those moments never leave you. They shape the way you understand and treat others.
No one should feel shame or face needless obstacles when getting help. Township government should lead with compassion, accountability and real care. Breaking down barriers and treating people with dignity isn't abstract policy. It's how lives actually change.
